First ‘More Than Basketball’ Camp a success

London United held their first “More Than Basketball Camp” during the February half term. With 58 kids in attendance it was more than a success!
Players were divided in three different age groups (U12, U14 and U16) and worked on their basketball skills six hours a day. Six of our coaches made sure that the players had a perfect balance between fun, education and skills improvement. The sessions consisted of both on and off court classroom sessions to learn about rules and regulations of basketball and mental aspect of the game.

Coach Daniel Szatkowski was more than pleased when he said:

“It was more than important for us to make sure the kids leave the camp more educated about the game of basketball. I am pleased with the effort the players showed in the classroom.”

During the skills work out, players completed drills to improve their ball handling and footwork, with 3 hour skills sessions, a day there was plenty of chance to work on their game. Different actives were included for the after-lunch sessions each day.

On Monday, a dunk contest on lower hoops. Although there was plenty of great dunks on display, it was 13 year old Kai-Ern who impressed everyone with a dunk
on a regulation height basket.

On Tuesday and Wednesday players were divided in teams of three and took part in a 3v3 tournament. The level of competitiveness was really high with our coaches being really impressed with the talent on display.

Thursday included a Skills Challenge and 3 point contest as the prefect way for players to demonstrate their level of skill. Players had to race between chairs, pass through tyres and make different types of shots all against the clock. The best time went to Will who completed everything in just 35 seconds!

On Friday, players had their chance to compete in a 5v5 competition with the finale of an All-Star game vs Our u18’s Premier team, it was more than pure fun with tonnes of dunks on display!
