Drayton Manor is the Real McCoy

P1200005.JPGOn Tuesday 31st of October United Basketball League (UBL) has inaugurated its first season at Featherstone High School which hosted Drayton Manor. Alexi Felekis scored the first ‘historic’ points by draining a 3 pointer in Drayton’s first possession. Felekis’ action set the trend for the entire game with Featherstone having a real problem with a very well trained Drayton superbly marshaled by floor general Felekis. To add to Southall’s outfit problems 6’6’’ (Year 10) Brooklyn McCoy dominated both boards scoring points from easy put backs. Featherstone however, fought back to the very end and provided Drayton with stiff opposition with the main threat coming from Eris Ibrahimi. Drayton Manor beating Featherstone 45:11 establishes them as a very strong contender for the entire competition.

The second game in the Wild West Division saw a very young Twyford CofE High School team battling very hard against the athletic Dormers Wells High School. Fast moving players from Twyford led by aggressively penetrating Makhai Dawkins had a slender 1 point lead by the interval but in the second half the size of Dormers players with 6’9’’ Amrit Mann dominating both boards proved to be a decisive factor. Finally Dormers run away with a deserved 22-14 victory.

In the sole game in Big East Division, Greenford High School has beaten Northolt High Scholl 39-11. The result slightly flatters Greenford because a very young Northolt outfit led by Dominic Allayo (Year 8) was not giving up at all trying to make up for lack of size with ball movement and sheer determination. In the second half Greenford led by Ryan Leung and Sparsh Paul started to show their dominance and sailed to the deserved victory.
