Pre Season European Invitational
London United Harefield Academy U18’s face tough preparation for the fast approaching season with a pre-season European Invitational tournament taking place at The Harefield Academy this weekend.
Teams travelling to Harefield include two former Polish champions SKM Zastal Zielona Góra and Uczniowski Klub Sportowy Chromik. Both teams have an established history in European basketball boasting players representing the National team squad.
SKM Zastal Zielona Góra have successful teams in each age category from 10 years old to U20, progressing to the senior division competing in Euroleague. Uczniowski Klub Sportowy Chromik’s squad of players have progressed from winning the U16 National Championship last season to the U18 age category. The club specializes in the development of young athletes offering excellent facilities and opportunities for their young players.
The visiting Polish clubs will face representation from the UK from both London United Harefield Academy and Manchester Magic.
The tournament tips off on Friday 28th August with the UK representation facing off at 12pm. The home team, London United will also face the former champions Uczniowski Klub Sportowy Chromik at 3:30pm.
Saturday 29th will see a triple game of action with SKM Zastal Zielona Góra facing London United at 10am, Manchester Magic v Chromik at 12pm and Manchester facing Zastal at 4pm.
On Sunday 30th the two former Polish National Champions will face off in a grudge match featuring numerous National team players in a demonstration of elite junior basketball action.
All matches take place at The Harefield Academy forming part of the pre-season training for the home team as they prepare for a season of European challengers in the European Youth Basketball League competition.
