London United launch Senior women’s programme for the 2015 / 2016 season in partnership with Buckinghamshire New University.

We have created a unique tailor-made program to allow elite basketball athletes the chance to combine gaining experience, exposure and valuable basketball opportunities alongside gaining a world recognized degree qualification.

Successful applicants will receive approximately 10 hours of on court training per week, free gym membership and strength and conditioning support all integrated into their academic timetable.
Basketball competition is provided through the opportunity to compete both in the UK and gaining European exposure

For the 2015 / 2016 academic year we are delighted to widen our provision with the opportunity for female basketball players to compete at the highest possible level in the UK in the following;
Either Women’s British Basketball League or National League Division Two
British Universities and Colleges Competition

We are passionate about providing our students with unique sporting competition. During the first year of programme student athletes on our Men’s programme have gained experience at the highest level in the UK (BBL) representing Surrey United competing in front of live crowds of approximately 4500 people with footage televised on British Eurosport. Our student athletes have also gained exposure through competition abroad competing in the ISBL.
For the 2015 / 2016 academic year we would like to expand our programme to provide the same type of opportunities for our women’s programme.

Our flagship course for our programme is BA (Hons) in Sports Development and Coaching. The course has been designed specifically to allow elite basketball performers the opportunity to continue their sporting performance and apply their strengths and knowledge to their academic development gaining a worldwide recognised qualification, a portfolio of vocational qualifications and providing them with a very realistic introduction to the world of European professional basketball.

From the very beginning we very strongly believed that in order to produce elite basketball performers their on court training, athletic performance and academic programmes must be fully integrated to maximise their potential. We have a designed course which encompasses high level specialist coaching and educational programs to allow aspiring basketball players the opportunity to

continue to develop to an elite level and exposure to elite competition in addition to maximising their employability.
All units taught at the Buckinghamshire New University High Wycombe campus are tailor made to allow basketball performers to participate in a minimum of 10 hours of on court training and 4 hours of strength and conditioning per week.

Employability is a particularly important theme throughout the degree, and students are encouraged to gain as much industry experience as possible through volunteering, paid part-time work, work placements and a sandwich year option. Additionally our diverse range of industry partners can offer you a unique opportunity to network during your studies.

For applicants wanting to complete an alternative academic course Buckinghamshire New University offer over 120 different undergraduate degree courses in a wide variety of different subject areas.
