United continue strong start in Division 4
Our young Londoners are continuing their strong start in senior men’s competition by beating Oxford Stealers 92-74. The final result certainly flatters United which had to battle very hard through at least 35 minutes before they finally broke Stealers resistance. After the third quarter United was leading only by 2 points and looked distinctly shaken by Stealers physical advantage around the basket.
Fortunately, in the final stanza relentless defensive pressure from Khalil, Mills and Olarerin finally started to pay dividends. United was able to force numerous turnovers which led to quick fast breaks finished with aplomb by an acrobatic Olarerin who is currently averaging over 30ppg in senior competition. Around the same time United finally found their range from outside and were able to dismantle Stealers sturdy zone defence.
Our U14 team also inaugurated their campaign in the National League in a very successful manner by beating Hackney Kings 78-17.
