After claiming the ABL title within the second season of entering the competition with our Alec Reed Academy programme we have secured our place in EABL competition for the 2018/19 season.

The Elite Academy Basketball League features the top U19 programmes and is the highest level of Schools / Colleges competition in the country. This weekly competition thoroughly supports the needs of potential elite athletes by giving them the opportunity to test their skills at the highest level possible during the academic calendar.

Our full time 16-19 year old programme based at Alec Reed Academy fully integrates sporting and academic performance with training and competition incorporated into each student’s timetable. Each player receives a tailor made fulltime programme consisting of a minimum of 10 hours on court training per week in addition to 4 hours of strength and conditioning training fully integrated with their full time academic programme of a wide choice of BTEC and A Level courses.

For the 2018/19 season our Academy students have the opportunity to compete in the following competitions; U19 EABL, NBL U18 Men’s South Premier, NBL Senior Men’s Division 2 and 4. London United will also be entering our third year of EYBL competition in two different age categories in addition to numerous International tournaments throughout the season ensuring that our players have regular contact with top level European competition. Students graduating from our programmes will be offered numerous progression routes into British and USA Universities.

Emma Chambers, Director of London United stated “We are excited to add EABL competition to our provision to allow our players to not only gain valuable experience against the top Academy programmes in the country but to also be part of Basketball England’s Player Development Pathway.

Participation in EABL alongside further domestic competition in both U18 Premier and Senior Men’s NBL combined with International U20 EYBL competition against the top European club teams provides a punishing and comprehensive season with vital experience and exposure for the players on our programme which is an exciting opportunity for any young aspiring player from the UK.”
