London United announce Academy Head Coach
We are pleased to announce the Head Coach position for our Academy programme will be Luis Felipe Cristobal Galindo.
Luis completed his Bachelor Degree in Physical Activity and Sport Science (High Performance Programme) in the Universidad Francisco de Vitoria (Madrid) before gaining the top level basketball coach licence from the Spanish Basketball Federation.
Luis signed with Movistar Estudiantes in 2011 as Head Coach and Assistant Coach of Junior category teams taking their junior teams to 2nd and 6th place in the Spanish National Championship and 3 gold medals in Madrid’s local championship.
In 2013 Luis joined the staff of the Spanish top league Liga Femenina Endesa and Liga EBA Movistar Estudiantes teams.
During his time with Movistar Estudiantes Madrid, Luis has become an integral part of the coaching staff taking on the role of Coordinator of their Video and Statistical Analysis programme for all youth and semi-professional teams.
Luis has five year’s experience in charge of the skills development for male players of the Liga EBA team, female players of Liga Femenina Endesa and all youth category players in addition to a wealth of knowledge and experience speaking at various clinics, colleges and schools.
Luis Felipe Cristobal Galindo stated, “I am really happy with this opportunity. This new project is a big challenge, but we are ready to take London United and British basketball to the next level. Working with this club is exciting, they have shown me their desire to improve from the very first day. I can’t wait to start practicing with the players and for competitions to start. I‘m very grateful to Jack, Emma, Iñigo and Club Estudiantes for considering me to manage this project. I’m sure we will go a long way together.”
When speaking of his appointment, Director of Youth Development at Movistar Estudiantes, Inigo de la Villa stated “A great coach for a great project. We have a pride and responsibility to grow and promote basketball. Luis knows our work model perfectly and he is the perfect person to transfer our philosophies to London United.”

The extensive knowledge and experience developing elite athletes that Luis brings with him from such a storied professional European club is a unique asset for an Academy programme in the UK.
